PUBLICMEDIA
PublicMedia is a new social enterprise that will create locally-based broadcast services open to all in the community, establishing a new kind of accessible media.
These services will create opportunities for the social and economic regeneration of local communities, and help to develop a creative industries sector capable of engaging and empowering people with a sense of self-belief, achievement and the confidence to take more responsibility for the direction of their own lives.
Community Involvement
PublicMedia will provide a variety of ways in which the public can become involved with its services, whether in front of the microphone as interviewees or on-air presenters and reporters, to behind the scenes as managers and advisers.
Training and Employment
PublicMedia courses, providing in-house training and practical hands-on experience, will be linked to other existing college and media centre courses and qualifications, and range from introductory sessions on how community groups can use the new service as a means of communication with the public, to induction courses for beginners and more advanced vocational training towards future employment.
