Ricardo Carvalho, 23, is a new media artist who will graduate this summer from the Cambridge School of Art. He has acquired an extensive range of professional skills including printmaking, graphic and web design, video and sound editing and ActionScript programming.
He has recently worked on a collaborative project between artists and scientists called ‘MindMine’. It is an interactive art installation and website representing complex neurological principles in which visitors become themselves thoughts traveling through neural canals. Ricardo’s personal research relates to similar issues regarding bridges between the brain and thought and how to represent these dilemmas visually. In his most recent project, ‘Lacuna’, he explores various possibilities in interactive video performance, enabling the viewer to manipulate a narrative that illustrates the process of creation and evolution.
Ricardo is also looking forward to starting an MFA in Computational Studio Arts at Goldsmiths University this coming September.
