Rosalind Davis is a mixed media painter using collage and paint to create complex and 3d dystopian landscapes, with a romantic and melancholy undercurrent.

Davis seeks out structures that to the uninitiated may seem neglected but for the individuals who use these buildings they are a refuge and of vital importance. They are a means of survival in bleak urban cityscapes. Often, the buildings are community based in areas of widespread social deprivation that may seem hostile, threatening and full of pathos.

The original medium Davis utilises, fusing painting with collage and embroidery, is complex, creating new expressions in painting. This technique adds fragility and tenderness, emphasising the disconcerting juxtaposition between aesthetics and meaning and giving physical manifestation to a communities association with their environment.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Art Rosalind has consistently secured exposure through exhibiting in many prestigious shows and galleries and has paintings in both public and private collections.
Most recently she has exhibited at Contemporary Art projects and Signal Gallery in Hoxton, exhibiting alongside Martin Greenland. Davis is currently working on a project for the Deptford X arts festival.
